Alphabet- Robbie

It's Robbie's turn to impress everyone with his knowledge of the alphabet. Some letters he names and some he makes their sound. This is what he knows so far...
A, E, F, G (Hard G sound), I, K (sound), L, M, N O, S, & Y. I tried to get a video of it, but of course, my battery was dead. I'm not doing a very good job at this these days. The really cute part is that, just like Christopher loved teaching Will, and got very excited when he learned his letters, Will is enjoying working with Robbie.

Babies

I guess having four children is a big deal. There are so many people who have expressed to me or to Chris that they wish they had more children. It seems very sad to me. Nobody has told me they had so many children, but wish they had fewer.

Getting Older v More Control

Besides the wrinkles, etc, I think there are benefits to getting older. People become more emotionally on an even keel. But, why is that? Is it because of hormones and the natural aging process, or is it because people are more in control of their lives? Or is it a combination? Nature v nurture...

Eating Healthily

I'm trying to eat very healthily this pregnancy for a few reasons... 1) So I don't have to lose too much weight afterward 2) So the baby is healthy (of course) 3) Because being in my mid thirties, pregnant for the forth time can be very hard on the body, and 4) Most importantly, because I read that babies somehow taste the flavors of foods you eat, and tend to like those more, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make meals more pleasant around here.

I've eliminated everything with partially hydrogenated oils, though we never ate much of that stuff anyway. I've eliminated almost all high fructose corn syrup. I've eliminated all white breads and white rice.

I've added quinoa, flaxseeds, almonds, blueberries, salmon, and green tea to our regular diets.

My biggest weakness is still cheese, but at least that is low fat these days. (Oh, and I still drink some diet soda, for which I feel terribly guilty.)

And by the way, we discovered that Christopher does like lima beans, just like his mother. :)

15 More Weeks

Almost there... Being pregnant in Connecticut in the winter is not much of a problem. It's not like there's anything else I'd rather be doing since it is Connecticut after all.

Bad Romance by Lady Gaga

Just want to throw in that my boys LOVE this song.

In Laws

My in laws are beautiful examples of how to be married. They've been happily married for 47 years so far. They both sacrifice for each other. They know that they have no choice but to make it work as the Catholic Church does not allow divorces and remarriage. As anyone who has been married knows, if you even view divorce as a very last option, that last option will at times become the first choice.

MIL

I have the greatest mother in law there is. When I was once discussing how difficult and exhausting it is was to have two kids under two, she reminded me that self sacrifice is the holiest thing I could be doing- even more important than prayer. Otherwise, why would Jesus have had to do it?

Caring for Elderly Parents

I have to admit that I think both arguments are bizarre! What about planning for your own care while you are still young? Where is the personal responsibility? Why is this the problem of the government at all? The thing is that governments cannot possibly consider that people are individuals. Some people have more resources while some people have more agreeable personalities, etc. There are so many different situations. That is why individuals take care of themselves best. I'm so glad my ancestors hopped on a boat and left England. Those people are FUBAR!
